Road closures and detours for both traffic and pedestrians will start to ramp up in the coming months as construction of the Windsor-Essex Parkway kicks into full swing.
Starting today, a portion of Bethlehem Avenue between Huron Church Road and Sixth Street will be closed a period of approximately one year. This closure is required for construction of the Labelle Tunnel known as T-2 and Bridge 7 known as B-7.
The work taking place in this area will also require the closure of the sidewalk on the west side of southbound Huron Church Road from roughly the area of the Super 8 Motel, just north of E.C. Row Expressway to Lambton Road and the closure of a portion of the right lane on southbound Huron Church Road between Labelle Street and the E.C. Row Expressway on-ramp.
A smaller closure also takes effect today. Grosvenor Drive at Highway 3 will be closed for construction of the Oliver Estates Tunnel know as-11. Local traffic can access this area via the next intersection at Howard Avenue. The permanent closure is required as this section of road will be incorporated into T-11 once constructed.
