After 13 long years, Canadian rock icon Matthew Good is making a triumphant return to Windsor.
On Tuesday, July 9th, the Coquitlam, BC, native will perform songs from his back catalogue at The Loop (156 Chatham Street West).
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know a lot has changed since Good last visited the area at the Caboto Club in 2000. For starters, his former band, the Matthew Good Band (MGB), broke-up shortly after releasing their album Audio Of Being in 2001. Not surprisingly, this didn’t stop the musician from continuing his craft.
Having penned such hits as Everything Is Automatic, Apparitions, Hello Timebomb, Load Me Up and Strange Days, Good carved-out a successful solo-career for himself. Since releasing Avalanche in 2003, he’s recorded another four records, including Hospital Music which hit #1 on in Canada upon its release in 2007 and 2011’s eclectic Lights Of Endangered Species.
While Good is sure to play some tunes from his days in MGB, he will most likely focus on his solo-material which includes hits like Weapon, Born Losers, Alert Status Red and new single Had It Coming. Having toured the globe, including two acoustic London, UK, shows in April, the songwriter has a lot of experience and dynamic range when performing live.
Beyond his gig at the Loop, Good will play a handful of shows this summer before touring more extensively to support his upcoming album, Arrows Of Desire, in the fall. Described as a proper rock record influenced by the Afghan Wigs, Hüsker Dü and The Pixies, the new material is set for release on September 24.
Tickets for the ages 19+ concert are $30 and can be purchased online until Monday, July 8th, at 9pm. Doors open at 8pm and the show will begin with Gentleman Husbands at 9pm.
As for Good, his latest single is available on iTunes in a standard or extended version, the latter containing Arrows Of Desire track, We’re Long Gone. Future tour dates can also be found on http://www.matthewgood.org.
