Solar rooftop panels are planned for a City of Windsor owned, but not operated, facility.
The Novelletto Rosati Complex, which was constructed for $5.3 million in 2001, is owned by the City of Windsor and is leased to the Italian Canadian Handicapable Association.
The ICHA is seeking the City’s approval to sublease the rooftop area to Great Lakes Energy. Solar panels would be installed and excess electricity generated would be sold to the provincial energy grid. The extra electricity is expected to create a revenue stream and help to pay for the valuable programming the Complex offers.
The matter is set for debate at City Council on Monday.
