City Council is being asked to consider the creation of an Emergency Planning Officer for the City of Windsor.
The position, which would fall under the Fire Department, will provide the City with planning for emergency management, emergency preparedness, planning for the continuity of operations in the event of emergencies, the development of training programs related to emergencies and the development of a public awareness and education program.
The City originally had an emergency planning officer position but the job was removed in 2007. Since then, changes in legislation have been updated and require more dedicated approaches by municipalities. The total cost for the Emergency Planning Officer $136,000 annually.
