Another incident of thin ice dangers this weekend in our area.
Just after 5:30pm Saturday evening, Lakeshore OPP along with Lakeshore Fire Service was called to Lighthouse Cove, approximately 50 feet off shore in the channel of the Thames River, where it meets Lake St. Clair, just east of the Lighthouse Inn. A Gator ATV, carrying two men from London, had fallen through the ice and the men were stranded and in need of assistance.
The men were escorted back to shore and were uninjured in the incident.
Also this weekend a truck fell through the ice in Mitchell’s Bay.
Police are reminding the public that the weather has been unpredictable lately and the ice in lakes and rivers may not be thick enough to drive on.
