A&W is opening in Essex.

“A&W is strategically and actively expanding in Ontario. Part of this strategy has been to focus in recent years on small-town Ontario,” said Sandra Lewis Director, Real Estate – Ontario for A&W.

The new location will be located on Maidstone Avenue West and Highway 3 right by the Canadian Tire.

“There is a population of over 12,000 people within a 10-minute drive of the Essex location. The new A&W restaurant will draw traffic from the town of Essex itself, as well as the surrounding rural communities and traffic traveling between Leamington and Windsor along Highway 3,” Lewis said.

“This groundbreaking demonstrates the potential for development in the Highway 3 commercial corridor,” said Nelson Silveira, Town of Essex Economic Development Officer. “This national restaurant chain recognizes the value of the location in the heart of Essex County. We know this area is ideal for a wide variety of businesses, and we look forward to building on that momentum.”

When completed later this year, the new location in Essex will employ approximately 20 people.
