A popular Walkerville restaurant has closed to make room for a new concept.
After five years, The Willistead closed their doors for good on Sunday, and it was announced Monday afternoon, Good Neighbour will open in its place.
A Facebook post sums up the news restaurant like this:
The name says it all, and we bet you know exactly where we are going with this one. This project, like most great ideas, started as a “what if…” and slowly grew, gathering momentum, until it all just fell perfectly into place and it became clear that we just had to take this opportunity to reinvent ourselves…especially in a way that could grow our involvement and our investment in this neighbourhood. Our biggest inspiration was ‘The Willistead’, plain and simple. It was what a restaurant could mean to a community. It was the immense pride and honour we took in being host to so much of Windsor’s artistic talent, supporting budding entrepreneurs, family celebrations and community togetherness. In short this project is not the end, it’s the building on what was.
In addition, the popular night markets will return this summer.
The new restaurant is expected to open in two weeks.
