To combat widespread non-compliance with smoke alarm regulations in Windsor, the Wake Up, Get a Working Smoke Alarm program kicked off again Tuesday evening.
The purpose of the program is for firefighters to visit all single family dwellings to ensure smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm compliance. In addition to the visits, residents will be provided with fire safety and home escape planning information.
Their stats from the 2013, 2014 and 2015 campaigns include 23,564 homes visited and 4,425 smoke alarms and batteries installed.
