Express Back To Winning Ways

Following a two-week break, the Windsor Express were back at home and feeling ready to go. For the first and only time this season, they welcomed the Moncton Miracles to the WFCU Centre. And they sent the visitors home with a loss. Brandon Robinson and Maurice Bolden combined for 9 three-pointers to boost the team past the Miracles. Windsor fought off Moncton and won 100-94.
Brandon Robinson led the team with 11 rebounds and 23 points, scoring 5 out of 9 three-point shots. Maurice Bolden added 18 points, putting up 4 three-pointers out of 7. Sherron Collins and Kirk Williams Jr. each had 12 points in the win.
Tony Bennett kicked things off the right way for the Express with a long three-pointer as his shot clock expired. The rest of the Windsor offense picked things up from there. At one end, the Express were building a significant lead. Its defense stood tall at the other; Chris Commons came up with two monster blocks against the Miracles. Late in the quarter, Moncton sank a pair of three-point shots to help close the gap. Windsor regained a bit of momentum heading into the quarter break, leading by 11.
The pace continued for the Express in the second. They kept piling on three-pointers throughout the quarter. Brandon Robinson and his crew were putting on a show. The constant offensive forces gave Windsor a good buffer at halftime. The Express were up 53-40.
With one half to go, Moncton stepped on the gas and began closing the gap on the Express. The Miracles were putting up points that put the Express in a tough spot. Halfway through the third, the train began to roll again. Windsor was heating up, and it forced the visitors into a timeout. the short break didn’t do much for the Miracles, though. the Express kept hitting their three-point baskets to extend their lead. They led by 15 points with a quarter to play.
Moncton slowly began to give Windsor a scare. The Miracles worked hard, fighting their way to just a 4-point deficit in the fourth. The Express halted the pesky visitors, but they kept clawing back. on numerous occasions, Mncton was only a couple baskets short of tying the game. Wiondsor wouldn;t let them get too close, though. the offense pressed on while the defense would force steals and turnovers. in the late stages of the game, the Miracles were once again within 4 points. however, time was not on their side. The Express stopped their offense and would score some last second foul shots to secure a win. Windsor was able to get the 100-94 win over Moncton.
The Express are back at the WFCU Centre Saturday night to take on the new Halifax Rainmen at 7:30pm.
