Nooses Found By Workers At Windsor Assembly Plant

Police are investigating after a noose was found by a black employee at Chrysler’s Windsor Assembly Plant.

Officers interviewed an employee of a construction company subcontracted to help retool the plant and learned that he allegedly found a rope tied into the shape of a noose that was placed on a portable cart that he was using during his shift.

Union leaders and Chrysler officials began an internal investigation. Then, another another employee located a second noose later the same day.

FCA Canada spokesperson LouAnn Gosselin says discrimination and harassment will not be tolerated.

“FCA Canada has a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment or discrimination of any kind,” she said. “This policy applies not only to our own employees, but also to vendors or contractors working at our facilities.”

Gosselin says the company takes allegations such as these very seriously and plans to fully investigate the matter in a timely fashion.

“Our employees found in violation of this policy are subject to discipline, up to and including termination,” said Gosselin. “We are currently working in cooperation with local authorities to investigate a recent allegation of workplace harassment made at our Plant.”
