The Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund has awarded the Windsor Symphony Orchestra a $50,000 grant investment to support the promotion and marketing of the orchestra’s 75th Anniversary season.

“This grant is very important to the WSO. It will allow us to celebrate with our community, our patrons and business partners, in a way that we would not have been able to do without it. 75 years is quite a milestone; this grant gives us a chance to make events and activities very special; it gives us a way to say thank you to our community!” says Sheila Wisdom, WSO Executive Director. “We’ll be reaching out past our standard marketing and advertising, into other markets, across the border and up the 401 in attempts to attract visitors to our area to share in our 75th Anniversary.”

OCAF grants aim to increase cultural tourism by providing investments to assist Ontario cultural organizations to promote, market and present one-off or first-time events, which are designed to attract new tourists and visitors to cultural events.

“Our government’s financial support for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, through the Ontario Cultural Attractions Fund, is incredible news that will assist Maestro Franz, Executive Director Sheila Wisdom, and the entire WSO team deliver the WSO’s celebratory seventy-fifth season of community-focused events in both Windsor and in Tecumseh,” says Windsor—Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie. “I very much look forward to joining with our residents as they take part in the symphony’s program for this year, and I thank Premier Ford, Minister Lumsden and the Ontario Government very much for their support of an invaluable and respected community partner.”
