A donation to Windsor Regional Hospital will make the setting for medical staff to sit down with loved ones to explain the potentially life-altering or terminal prognosis, a care plan and updates for a patient requiring critical care a little more comfortable.
On Tuesday, Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation accepted a $10,000 donation from the Do Good Divas to sponsor the ICU Family Conference room at the Ouellette Campus.
This room will provide an opportunity for the healthcare team to meet privately with families to provide information on care being provided to their loved one in the Intensive Care Unit.
Due to the Global pandemic, the Do Good Divas wanted to support the work of the ICU team and Trillium Gift of Life, the government body responsible for the coordination of Ontario’s organ and tissue donation efforts. Inspired by the challenges faced over the course of the pandemic by families – many of whom are unable to visit patients in the ICU at all due to COVID-19 related restrictions – the Do Good Divas saw they could do some real good for patients through the development of the ICU family conference, as well as needed equipment for the ICU.
