1 New Death, 10 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Wednesday, bringing the local total to 13,047.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 13,037 on Tuesday March 2nd to 13,047 on Wednesday March 3rd and 262 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 3 cases are outbreak-related, 4 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, and 3 cases are community-acquired.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 5,740 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (+1,043 since yesterday)
  • 11,588 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+19 since yesterday)
  • A total of 28,916 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+1,081 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,397 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 27 resolved cases today.

Deaths

There has been one additional death from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 388. The Health Unit says a man in his 70’s from long-term care passed away.

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 47 hospitalizations today: 38 people in acute care (1 more today), and 9 people in the ICU (2 more today) with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
