Elementary and secondary in Windsor-Essex will return to in-person learning on Monday, February 8th, 2021.
“Following the best medical advice, with the clear support of both Ontario’s and the local Medical Officers of Health, we are reopening schools across the province knowing that we have taken additional steps and made additional investments to better protect our students and staff,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Nothing is more important than returning kids to school safely because it is crucial for their development, mental health, and future success.”
There will be a number of upgraded safety measures in place that students and staff must follow. Those include:
- All students in grades 1 to 12 must wear masks in class and in the hallways. They must also wear masks when outside, unless physical distancing of 2 metres can be maintained.
- All students using Board-provided transportation must wear masks while on buses.
- They are encouraging students in junior and senior kindergarten classes to wear masks as well.
