4 New Deaths, 27 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex On Saturday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 27 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Saturday, bringing the local total to 12,746.

Today’s New Cases

Cases increased from 12,719 on Friday February 19th to 12,746 on Saturday February 20th and 289 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 2 cases are outbreak-related, 6 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 6 cases are community-acquired, and 13 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.

Vaccinations

Here’s the Health Unit’s vaccination update for today:

  • 1,295 people have received only their first dose of the vaccine (-309 since yesterday)
  • 11,056 people have received both doses of the vaccine (full series) (+442 since yesterday)
  • A total of 23,407 doses have been administered to Windsor-Essex County residents (+575 since yesterday)

Resolved Cases

The Health Unit lists 12,085 total resolved cases.

That’s an increase of 35 resolved cases today.

Deaths

The Health Unit announced 4 additional deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 372.

They say:

  • 3 deaths are from the community
    • A man and a woman in their 70’s
    • A man in his 90’s
  • 1 death is from long-term care
    • A man in his 90’s

Hospitalizations

The Health Unit lists 41 hospitalizations today: 35 people in acute care (5 more today), and 6 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex.
