42 New Cases Of COVID-19 In Windsor Essex As Of Wednesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 42 new cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the local total to 3,423. They say 3,005 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 3,381 on Tuesday November 24th to 3,423 on Wednesday November 25th and 341 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 19 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 5 cases are agri-farm workers, 1 case is a local healthcare worker, 2 cases are travel related to Michigan (1 is a healthcare worker), 2 cases are community acquired, and 14 cases are still being investigated.

There have been no additional deaths due to COVID-19 as of Wednesday and the local death toll stands at 77.

As of Wednesday, the Health Unit lists 13 people as hospitalized, and 5 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Ten hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Wednesday five long-term care/retirement homes remain under outbreak:

  • Leamington Mennonite (Leamington) has 0 resident cases and 1 staff case
  • Riverside Place (Windsor) has 17 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 0 resident cases and 2 staff cases
  • Lifetimes on Riverside (Windsor) has 5 resident cases and 4 staff cases
  • Iller Lodge (Essex) has 18 resident cases and 3 staff cases

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Wednesday three workplaces remain under outbreak:

  • 2 outbreaks at agri-farms in Leamington
  • 1 outbreak at a place of worship in Leamington

School Outbreaks

As of Wednesday two schools remain under outbreak:

  • W.J. Langlois Catholic Elementary School
  • Frank W. Begley Public School – 43 cases (35 students, 8 staff)

Community Outbreaks

As of Wednesday, there are two community outbreaks:

  • Riverplace Residence
  • Victoria Manor (new as of Wednesday)
