24 New Cases Of COVID-19, 1 Additional Death In Windsor Essex As Of Tuesday

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit has announced 24 new cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, bringing the local total to 3,120. They say 2,852 people locally have recovered.

Cases increased from 3,097 on Monday November 16th to 3,120 on Tuesday November 17th and 191 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex. One case from the past week was transferred over to another jurisdiction, according to the Health Unit.

The Health Unit says 6 cases are community acquired, 5 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 3 cases are agri-farm workers, and 10 cases are still under investigation.

There has been one additional death due to COVID-19 as of Tuesday bringing the local death toll to 77. This is the first death from COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex in more than two months. The Health Unit says the death was a man in his 90s who was a resident of a long-term care home.

As of Tuesday, the Health Unit lists 8 people as hospitalized, and 2 people in the ICU with confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Windsor Essex. Seven hospitalizations are listed at Windsor Regional Hospital.

Long-term Care / Retirement Home Outbreaks

As of Tuesday there are three outbreaks:

  • Berkshire Care Center (Windsor) has 1 staff case
  • Lifetimes on Riverside (Windsor) has 5 resident cases and 4 staff cases (1 additional resident case today)
  • Iller Lodge (Essex) has 17 resident cases and 1 staff case

The outbreak as Riverside Place has now ended.

Workplace Outbreaks

As of Tuesday there is one workplace outbreak at an agri-farm in Leamington.
