Two things you may think about when planning an event or party are food and space. The venue is a crucial factor in your planning process because it will be one of the deciding factors when it comes to your guest list.

With COVID-19 throwing a wrench into all our 2020 plans, instead of hopping on planes and going to parties, we find ourselves spending more time at home and in our backyards.

Wait – backyards. That’s undoubtedly a space you can use!

Sure, you may not be able to throw your typical summer bash, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a few of your closest friends or family or both (no more than ten is recommended*), and throw a mini get together.

So, what do you need? Well, tables and chairs.

Although social distancing measures have changed the typical party layout, more space doesn’t mean less thought. You will need to be more strategic than ever to ensure all your guests still feel included now that extra distance is required.

It may take some trial and error, arranging and rearranging; however, you will find the perfect layout.

One idea: arrange your tables and chairs, so everyone is sitting on one side. In doing so, everyone will be facing one another (no one’s back will be to another table). Place your tables in a circle, square, or whatever way makes sense for your space. Now when your guests sit, they will still feel like they are part of a larger table.

Extras to consider:

There is no shame in not owning all the supplies you need to throw a party, and there is no shame in not wanting to go out and purchase all of them. Honestly, ask yourself, how often do you throw parties? Is the expense of owning worth it? Remember, you’ll have to store it!

Renting is a solution worth considering. Not just for tables and chairs, but linens, tableware, glasses, and cookware. Don’t feel like you need to own all these items to be the King or Queen of the Party!
