The Downtown Windsor BIA is making it a little easier to get around downtown in the snow.

This year, the BIA has hired a contractor to remove snow from downtown sidewalks following a heavy snowfall. This service will be performed at any time that there is an accumulation of more than two inches of snow.

“We want to encourage and maintain a focus on being a pedestrian-friendly community year-round,” says Brian Yeomans, DWBIA Chair. “We support our businesses, residents and visitors by ensuring sidewalks are clear of snow, so we don’t hinder people’s mobility. We want to ensure that our community remains accessible and navigable.”

The service area includes:

  • Ouellette Avenue from Riverside Drive to Giles Boulevard
  • Riverside Drive between Bruce Avenue and Goyeau Street
  • Pitt Street between Ferry Street and Goyeau Street
  • Chatham Street between Victoria Avenue and Goyeau Street
  • University Avenue between Victoria Avenue and Goyeau Street
  • Park Street between Victoria Avenue and Goyeau Street
  • Wyandotte Street between Victoria Avenue and Goyeau Street
  • Ferry Street between Chatham Street and Riverside Drive
  • Victoria Street between Park Avenue and Chatham Street
  • Freedom Way between University Avenue and Park Avenue
  • Goyeau Street between Riverside Drive and Park Avenue
  • Pelissier Street between Wyandotte Street and Chatham Street

Downtown business owners are reminded that the DWBIA will not be salting sidewalks in front of commercial properties; that remains the business owner’s responsibility.
