The City of Windsor has called a by-election to fill the vacant Council seat in Ward 7 after Councillor Irek Kusmierczyk’s election as a Member of Parliament.
The city says the by-election will be held on Monday, April 27th, 2020, from 10:00am to 8:00pm. Advanced voting will take place on Friday, April 17th and Saturday, April 18th at Forest Glade Arena.
Nominations are now open and candidates seeking nomination have until March 13th, 2020 at 2:00pm to register.
Residents seeking nomination must fill out the prescribed forms, available in the City Clerk’s Office (350 City Hall Square West, Room 530). A nomination filing fee of $100 applies (cash, debit, or credit card payment only).
Nominations must be signed by the candidate and filed in person or by an agent during regular business hours, 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, from January 14th to March 12th, or between the hours of 9:00am and 2:00pm on Nomination Day, March 13th.
Those wishing to run for election must be, at the time of being nominated:
- A resident of the City of Windsor or a non-resident-owner or tenant of land in the City of Windsor, or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
- A Canadian Citizen;
- At least 18 years old;
- Not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office.
