Essex Appoints New Economic Development Officer

The Town of Essex has appointed Nelson Silveira as its new Economic Development Officer.
Silveira will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Town’s economic development programs and initiatives for business attraction, retention, promotion, marketing and expansion.
Silveira holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Northern British Columbia and has completed the Western Economic Development Course through the B.C. Economic Development Association. As Economic Development Officer with the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, Silveira prepared the economic development strategic plan for the region, worked on business development initiatives, and implemented a series of tourism related projects.
“I am very excited to have this opportunity to help implement current initiatives and guide future plans for growth and development in the Town of Essex,” says Silveira.
Nelson Silveira’s appointment is effective Monday, September 19th.
