The Ontario Bar Association has recognized a Windsor lawyer for exceptional career contributions with one of the highest honours it can bestow.

Jerry Udell, a partner at Windsor’s McTague Law Firm, was recently selected to receive the Ontario Bar Association’s award for Distinguished Service. The award recognizes exceptional career contributions and/or career achievements by Members of the Ontario Bar Association.

Udell was called to the Bar in 1976 and joined the McTague Law Firm in 1994, becoming a partner of the firm in 1998. He is one of only 26 Ontario lawyers who are Certified as a Specialist in Real Estate by the Law Society of Upper Canada.

Udell lectures frequently on behalf of the Law Society of Upper Canada and Canadian Bar Association in the Real Estate/Mortgage Remedy/Secured Transaction areas, and is counsel to numerous banks and credit unions as well as the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.

Last April, he was elected by his peers to serve on the Board of Governors for the The Law Society of Upper Canada.

Udell will be presented with his award at the OBA Annual Awards Gala to be held in Toronto on April 20th.

Since its inception in 1988, no other Windsor-Essex lawyer has been selected to receive the Award for Distinguished Service. This year, only two other lawyers in Ontario will receive the award.
