This year’s Rotary Auction on TV Cogeco held this past weekend raised more than $51,000.
“We are so grateful to everyone who tuned in to bid, and to all those who donated and volunteered to ‘raise a little help’,” said 2015 Club President John Weese. “Without the generosity of the many local businesses that donated the gift items, we wouldn’t have been so successful. I would like to thank everyone for their community-minded spirit.” This year, nearly 400 items were donated to this important fundraiser, and more than 50 volunteers from Rotary and the community at large staffed the telephones and worked behind the scenes.
This was the 29th year that the Rotary Club of Windsor-St. Clair has partnered with TV Cogeco to present a television auction. “The staff at Cogeco does a fabulous job for us,” Weese added. “This is one of our most important fundraisers. The funds raised support club projects like the Wake Up and Get a Working Smoke Detector program that we continue to implement in partnership with the Windsor Fire Department. It also helps to support the literacy and breakfast programs we conduct at Begley Public School, and many other local and worldwide projects.” Funds raised are also used to conduct international projects such as schools and health care clinics the club has built in Africa. “We also assist many families on an individual basis, are able to continue our student bursary program, and can aid in Rotary’s worldwide mission to eradicate polio,” he adds.
