Council Approves $7.9 Million Library Facilities Plan

Windsor City Council has approved a plan for the restructuring of the Windsor Public Library.
The plan includes consolidating the South Walkerville and Remington branches into a new addition at the optimist community centre, adding a 6,000 square-foot addition to the Budimir library in South Windsor, and to move forward with renovating the former Sandwich fire hall to create a brand new branch.
The Library Board will also continue to look into opening a future library branch at Devonshire Mall or the south Windsor area.
The Seminole branch which was slated for closure has been taken off the chopping block.
A new bookmobile will also be purchased.
The total estimated cost of all the moving and renovations is just over $7.9 million.
In addition, administration has been asked to explore options for the relocation of the central branch on Ouellette.
