For the fourth year in a row, St. Clair College’s Aquatic Services has been nationally honoured for their educational aquatic programs.
The college was awarded the Canadian Red Cross Swimming & Water Safety Training Partner Award for an Educational Institution. The award recognizes St. Clair for its achievement in swimming and water safety programs for 2014.
Last year the college trained about 3,700 students in classes that were offered for members of the community of all ages, spanning from just four months old up to senior citizens.
“St. Clair College services tens of thousands of visitors to the pool annually,” said Jeff McEwan, Aquatics and Recreational Facilities Manager. “A large portion is through swimming and water safety lessons, but also for the college students, elementary and secondary school boards, as well as the community members for general recreation. We love having the pool busy and full of activities!”
Nationwide last year, the Canadian Red Cross trained about 1.1 million people through Swimming and Water Safety Training.
