Organizers of the Kingsville Folk Music Festival are celebrating after a very successful first run at the festival.
Organizers say that over the three days in August, over 4,600 people walked through the festival gates. The festival also generated a lot of business and sales for area stores and restaurants and area hotels reported increases in sales over the weekend as attendees from as far away as the Florida Keys, Maryland and Alberta.
The Kingsville Folk Music Festival is a fundraising project of the Sun Parlour Folk Music Society, a non-profit society dedicated to raising money through the annual folk festival and concert series. The Society’s main focus, music and arts for youth -MAY FUND- is to provide financial assistance to Essex County youth to access the arts (music, theatre, dance) through lessons, mentoring and workshops.
The Festival featured 40 acts and over 100 performances throughout the weekend on five different stages and negotiations for 2015 performers have begun and patrons are urged to watch for early bird pricing, which could begin as early as November this year which will be held from August 7th to 9th at Lakeside Park in Kingsville.
