Windsor Fire & Rescue has recognized two individuals for their heroic efforts to help a woman escape from her burning house in January.

Mike and Muffy Sleiman were recognized for their heroic efforts to assist Patricia Malicki escape a house fire at her east-side home on January 10th.

The Sleimans noticed the fire at Malicki’s house, dialed 911 and helped Patricia Malicki escape. Windsor Fire says Mike battled heavy smoke to help Ms. Malicki exit the house and then proceeded to the front of the property to direct arriving firefighters to the scene. Muffy stayed by Patricia’s side to offer support while awaiting their arrival.

“Mike and Muffy’s actions in the face of this truly unfortunate event are an example to all of us,” said Chief Bruce Montone. “Their heart, their quick thinking, and their complete lack of hesitation were the very definition of heroism.”

Malicki passed away two days after the fire on January 12th.
