Windsor Police are planning for an increased presence at St. Patrick’s Day events across the city this weekend.
Police say they’ll have additional personnel on duty in anticipation of the busy weekend; shift schedules have been modified and additional officers will be deployed as part of what they’re calling “a planned and proactive approach” to ensure safety and responsibility.
St. Patrick’s Day celebrations usually present high-call volumes for police and as a result, attendees to organized street celebrations should expect to see a highly visible police presence.
Police say they’ll be concentrating on keeping the peace in entertainment areas and in the neighbourhoods surrounding the University of Windsor campus.
Windsor Police remind all citizens to be respectful, don’t get out of hand, moderate your alcohol consumption, don’t drink and drive, don’t drive distracted, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic, be mindful of noise bylaws and alcohol regulations and recognize that Monday and Tuesday are school and work days for most people.
