The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is providing a five-week supply of Thrive gum, nicotine replacement therapy, for free, to fifty eligible participants.
The Health Unit would like to hear from anyone who is thinking about quitting and interested who may be in getting help through nicotine replacement therapy.
“Thrive gum helps you stop smoking by reducing withdrawal symptoms and nicotine cravings,” (Thrive product monograph, 2011). It allows you to gradually reduce the number of tobacco products smoked each day until you stop using nicotine completely.
Certain inclusion and exclusion criteria apply. To be a participant you must:
- Be a resident of Ontario and 18 years of age or older.
- Be a current, daily smoker.
- Smoke 10 or more cigarettes per day.
- Want to quit within the next 30 days.
- Consent for referral to Smoker’s Helpline and a 30 minute counselling session.
Interested individuals who meet the criteria should call the Health Unit at 519-258-2146 ext. 3100.
