Man Killed By VIA Train In Chatham, SIU Called In

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate a death in Chatham.

Officials say that at approximately 3:40pm Friday afternoon, Chatham-Kent Police were investigating a man in the area of Richmond Street and Byng Avenue.

Police say the man made his way to the railroad tracks north of Richmond Street and was struck and killed by a VIA train.

The SIU has assigned four investigators and two forensic investigators to probe the circumstances of the incident.
