The City of Windsor is reporting the success of signage on both Dougall Avenue and the 401 in reducing truck traffic on Dougall Avenue.
In a report to the City’s Transportaiton Committee, the City says “northbound truck volumes have declined at the North EC Row Expressway Ramp by approximately 50% since the left turn restriction was installed”.
Concerns were first raised with the City in 2007 and Council had signs installed banning left turns from Dougall to EC Row for trucks.
Last November, City Council asked to review the situation in order to “keep trucks from using Huron Line to Dougall to 401 as a shortcut due to WE Parkway Construction”, or a reversal of the originally concerned route.
The City assembled data and has concluded that “while there is a general perception of increased southbound truck traffic on Dougall Ave. along the route in question, this is not supported by volume data”.
