The Fraser Institute’s annual report card for the 2,714 Public, Catholic, and Francophone elementary schools in Ontario was released on Sunday, and shows that only one school from the Windsor-Essex area is in the top 100.
Each school receives an overall rating out of ten based on the school’s academic performance. The tests use objective, publicly available data to rank and compare schools, such as average scores on provincial tests. The reports also looks at the percent of special needs students in the school and the parents’ average income when factoring the scores.
According to the report findings, the top Catholic school and the highest ranked in Windsor and Essex County was LaSalle’s Holy Cross which scored 9 out of 10 and was 78th in the province.
At the Public School Board, Bellewood scored the highest with 8.7 out of 10 and was 124th in the province.
The top Francophone elementary was Sainte-Therese which scored 8.5 out of 10 and was 166th in the province.
