Migration Festival This Weekend at Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary

The annual Migration Festival takes place this weekend at the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary.

Here is a look at events planned:

Friday October 19th
Opening Ceremonies for the Festival will be held at the Sanctuary starting at 6:30pm. This will be accompanied by a church service led by Reverend Olav Kitchen with light refreshments to follow.

Saturday October 20th
The day will start with some early morning bird banding anyone interested in viewing or participating in the banding is asked to contact the Sanctuary in advance for details. The Sanctuary will remain open to the public throughout the day from 8am to 4pm and visitors are encouraged to stop by to see some of the exciting changes at the Sanctuary and to feed the birds.

In the evening, The Jack Miner Migratory Bird Foundation will be holding the “Make your Mark in History” fundraising event starting at 7:30pm. This fundraising cocktail party will feature live music, appetizers, refreshments, desserts, door prizes, silent auction, and the official signing of the Sister City Agreement with Westlake, Ohio. Following the reception, guests will have the opportunity of being the first people to tour the Jack Miner House since the building was acquired by the Foundation this summer. In addition, all guests will be able to make their mark in history by signing the original Jack Miner guestbook dating back to 1921! Tickets for the event are $50 each with a portion of the cost eligible for a tax receipt. You must be 19 years of age or older to attend this event.

Sunday October 21st
On the final day of the Migration Festival visitors are encouraged to bring their families for a fun filled day at the Sanctuary. The site will be open from 10am-4pm and feature children’s activities and crafts. In addition, visitors will be able to tour the main floor of the newly acquired Jack Miner House from 1-4pm.
