Olde Sandwich Towne is getting a $320,000 face-lift to its deteriorating lamp posts.
The City of Windsor has “worked with the [Sandwich Business Improvement Association] to select a replacement fixture that reflects the heritage of Olde Sandwich Towne”. The new lamp posts will be LED-based and durable to withstand a long life.
The new lamp posts are black (replacing existing green), nearly 16 feet (or 3.8m) tall and will be installed in a t-shaped area along Sandwich (between Brock and Detroit) and Mill (between Russell and Peter).
Sandwich Towne has experienced a flurry of upgrades and growth this year including a new roundabout, brand new street furniture including benches and garbage cans, the opening of an all-local store, and is the home of Windsor’s Santa Claus Parade and arguably the most-decorated-for-Christmas stretch of street in the city.
The new lamp posts will be installed in early-to-mid 2012.
