Windsor Police are asking the public for information regarding a dog and its owner after a two year old boy was bitten, Monday afternoon, in a park at the rear of 3461 Peter Street on the city’s west side.
The young boy was on play equipment in the park when his father noticed a large brown dog he described as a “pitbull – boxer” mix walking toward them. Police say that the boy approached the dog and the dog immediately bit the boy’s left ear resulting in the skin being broken. The boy’s father ran at the dog and kicked it twice causing the dog to run away in a southeast direction through the park.
Paramedics transported the boy to Windsor Regional Hospital prior to police arriving on scene. The boy was treated and released for the dog bite to his left ear.
Officers searched the area extensively throughout the night in an attempt to locate the dog and it’s owner(s) with negative results. Police are asking for the owner of the dog to come forward to confirm that the dog has had the proper vaccinations.
The dog is described as a large mixed breed pitbull-boxer. The dog is dark brown in colour with white spots on it’s cheeks and a red nose. The boy’s father advised police that he had never seen the dog in the area before.
Anyone with any information regarding the dog and its whereabouts is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
