The Windsor Police Arson Unit is requesting the assistance of the public concerning an arson that took place early this morning in the south end of the city.
At 5:40 am, Windsor Fire Service responded to a report of a working fire at Mr. J’s Limo Service located at 2810 Dougall Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters found two limousines parked inside the building totally consumed by flames.
The subsequent investigation by the Windsor Police Arson Unit and Windsor Fire revealed that at some time prior to 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2011, a person(s) unknown broke into the premises by shattering one of the glass pedestrian door panels. A number of “Molotov Cocktail” devices were then placed inside the limousines parked inside the building. Two of the vehicles were completely destroyed by the fire while the remaining vehicles and the building suffered heavy smoke and heat damage.
The total damage is estimated to be $500,000.00.
