A report is going before council on Official Plan and Zoning Amendments for the location of methadone clinics in Windsor. This issue was raised at council after two of these clinics opened up in residential neighbourhoods: one in the west end and one in Walkerville. Amendments to the bylaw will now prevent commercial buildings within residential areas from housing methadone clinics. The full report of the Planning Advisory Committee can be viewed online here.
Francois Court and Watson Avenue will be under going sewer rehabilitation in 2012 at one million dollars each. At councils budget session in March, Mayor Francis had a place holder places for theses two projects. Administration found the necessary funding to do both from other road projects that came under budget.
Council will look at changes to the Body Rub Parlour Bylaw. Two changes are being proposed. First, no owner or operator may use or permit to be used any camera or other photographic, or other electronic recording device in their establishment, aside from a security camera at the front door. Second, Body Rub Parlous may only be open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. of the same day. There are several delegations listed to speak on this matter including members of the Downtown Windsor BIA.
