Ellis Honored, Leads Spits to Victory over Generals

Last night in Spitfires action, the Spits took on the Oshawa Generals. A pregame ceremony was held to honor Ryan Ellis’ record of number of points by a defenceman in the franchise.
The first goal of the game was scored 3:34 into the first period by Lanoue and was assisted by Ellis. Six minutes later, Khokhlachev added another goal to give the Spits a 2-0 lead going into the second period. MacQueen scored in the second period, and Kassian scored twice in the second. Oshawa’s Dehart also added a goal to bring the score to 5-1 going into the third and final period. No Spitfire goals were scored in the third but the Generals did manage to score one more goal to bring the final score to 5-2 Spitfires. Jack Cambell was the big story of the night making 41 saves in the game, and 21 just in the second period alone.
The Spits will face Saginaw(17-5-3-1) on the road tonight and the Peterborough Petes(5-16-1-1) at the WFCU Center on Sunday. (2:00 PM)
