The city’s only not-for-profit, campus-based radio station is gearing up for their annual community pledge drive! CJAM 99.1FM, our hyper-local neighbour and friend, is asking listeners to call in and share their favourite CJAM stories between Oct. 29th and Nov. 5th. And if you feel so inclined, make a donation. This year’s pledge drive goal is $25 000, and incentives include a sweet tee and cozy hoody!
As you may recall, CJAM switched bandwidths to 99.1FM last year, after nearly being obliterated from the airwaves by a rival station vying for 91.5FM. Strong support from the community made the switch possible, and along with the frequency change, they ramped up their broadcasting range. The plan now is to increase this range even more by going from 500 to 1000 watts, which will make listening to CJAM easier, no matter where you are in the region.
The pledge drive kick off event happens tomorrow at noon, and they’d like to celebrate with the local businesses and community groups that have contributed to their success so far. Coffee, donuts (courtesy of Tim’s) and a performance by Windsor a capella group The House of Daniel will be enjoyed by all who come out and visit the CJAM crew at the station (401 Sunset Ave. CAW Student Centre, room B-20).
