Trinkets & Treasures Handmade Crafters Gallery is looking to the community for help after they have been forced to move from their current location in Amherstburg.
The gallery, which sells and displays only handmade goods that are made within Windsor & Essex County, opened in November of 2011. The gallery has grown from eight participating crafters, to over 60 crafters, artists and authors.
The small shop has moved twice and is now facing another move, but not one of their choice.
Gallery owner Melissa says “issues with the condition of the building we are renting, combined with a loss in ownership of the building by our landlord is leaving us seeking out any available spaces nearby that offer us decent space at a similar rate. With this sudden move we are again being faced with A. needing to close temporarily (and having lower sales for the season due to that,) and B. fronting first and last months rent two months in advance to secure a new space. Having just sunk over $600 into advertising costs in June to gain exposure in our new location, we lack the funds to secure a new location without damaging my personal finances, and that just isn’t an option this time around.”
And this is where the local community comes in. Melissa says “What we need is pretty basic. We need the support of the community to help us raise enough to cover our first and last months rent for our new location, thereby keeping us from having to give up our dream.”
