The Walkerville Theatre has a new owner!
Walkerville BIA Coordinator Joan Charette says the theatre was sold to Mary Lambros of Lorelei’s Bistro – which is located next door.
Charette says Lambros plans to hold neighbourhood events, fundraisers, mystery dinner theatre and more.
According to The Walkerville Times, the theatre debuted in 1918 as “The Walkerville Theatre” and was designed by the same architect who created Detroit’s Fox Theatre and Music Hall.
The theatre was also known as the “Tivoli Theatre” from the 1930’s onward and showed movies along with stage performances.
The theatre, located at 1564 Wyandotte Street East, between Lincoln and Gladstone, was most recently listed on the market at $179,000. The theatre area includes 7500sq/ft on the main floor, a concession counter and balcony.
