New Bike Safety Video Launched

Every Grade 4 student in Windsor and Essex County will understand the importance of wearing a bike helmet and how to follow the rules of the road after watching The Safety Village’s new Bike Safety Video filmed and produced locally.

Hundreds of students from Eastwood, Parkview and Forest Glade schools rode their bicycles to The Safety Village today  for the inaugural Superhero Cycle for Safety an event that launched the “Made-in-Windsor” safety video.

The Safety Village says that this new video will replace the 25-year-old U.S. video local police have been using for the Grade 4 Bike Safety program.

The Safety Village partnered with the Greater Essex County District School Board to promote the video with a Spring Bicycle Giveaway contest for all Grade 4 students in Essex County. Students will watch the video and then answer a skill-testing quiz on bike safety to be entered into a draw to win a TREK bike donated by Ambassador Bicycle Shop. The winning student will also win a Rock’n Roll Bike Rodeo for their school in June.

Community Education Officer Neil McEachrane and Safety Village Executive Director Michael Lucier are looking forward to delivering the Grade 4 program with the new video. “We are so excited to finally have a bike safety video that shows the beauty of our region,” says Lucier. Kingsville, the Ganatcio Trail and Windsor’s Riverfront Trail are showcased throughout the video that features local residents talking about why they love riding their bikes in the region along with the safety lessons.
