The City of Windsor has put the planned reconstruction of St. Rose Avenue on hold for another year while Union Gas updates buried infrastructure in the area.
St. Rose, which was set to be redone from the ground up with new sewers, watermains, curbs, gutters and pavement, is a popular shortcut from Wyandotte to Lauzon.
The street is one of Riverside’s original thoroughfares, has been in poor condition for several years and at no point ever had actual curbs or gutters.
The City of Windsor says that as a precautionary safety measure, Union Gas will be upgrading Gas Main Infrastructure prior to the start of the project.
The City is spending $560,000 to repair the road and construction is now planned for 2014.
