Earth Hour 2011
It began five years ago as an event for residents and businesses in Sydney, Australia, and now Earth Hour is a global event involving hundreds of millions of people in 135 countries, including thousands in Windsor and Essex County.
This year Earth Hour will be held Saturday March 31st starting at 8:30pm.
Windsorites are encourages to turn off extra lights, shut off the computer and the TV and do their part.
Last year energy use in the City of Windsor decreased by 3%. In Ontario electricity demand fell by 2.1 % compared to 6% in 2010.
