Windsor Police are searching for a suspect after an east side convenience store in the 7600 block of Tecumseh Road East was robbed at knifepoint on Sunday morning.
The husband and wife owners of the store told police that a lone male suspect wearing a black wool mask over his face entered the store, approached the counter, produced a knife with a 12″-14″ blade and demanded money from the cash register and cigarettes.
The 62-year-old female clerk complied and handed over a quantity of cash and cigarettes to the suspect. The robbery was interrupted by a customer who entered the store.
At this time, the suspect concealed the knife and walked out of the store before fleeing on foot eastbound through the parking lot. Police officers including a K9 Unit checked the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him.
Neither the female clerk nor her 68-year-old husband were injured during the robbery. The suspect is described as a male, non-white (race unknown). He was approximately 6′ tall with a medium build and had light brown eyes. He was wearing a beige jacket, grey pants and a black wool mask covering his face.
The suspect was also carrying a bright red back pack. Anyone with any information regarding this robbery or the identity of the suspect is asked to call Windsor Police Investigations at 519-255-6700 ext 4830 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-TIPS (8477).
