A Ukraine Fundraiser and Pasta Dinner held on April 5th at Kingsvilles Grovedale Arts & Culture Centre raised $25,600. The funds were raised with dinner donations, a silent auction, baked goods and merchandise sales, and online donations.
“We sold three hundred meals in 45 minutes,” she said. “Three hundred is what we had planned for; we ran out of food several times. But they just kept finding more and cooking more,” said Councillor Laura Lucier.
In the end, the Knights of Columbus served roughly 675 meals.
“This was a phenomenal community effort made possible by the generosity of Kingsville businesses, organizations and volunteers,” continued Lucier. “It’s impossible to list everyone involved because so many people stepped up to support this important cause by donating money, door prizes, food, takeout containers, artwork for the auction, and valuable time and skills.”
The Town is donating proceeds from this event through the Red Cross to the Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.
