The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a serious injury suffered by a man in a single-vehicle collision after a Windsor Police Service officer attempted to pull him over last night.

Officials say that at approximately 8:30pm, an off-duty Windsor Police Service officer saw a driver operating a pickup truck erratically in the area of Huron Church Road at Cabana Road in LaSalle and called it in.

An on-duty police officer then spotted the vehicle on Howard Avenue and attempted to pull the driver over.

The driver exited the truck in the area of Howard Avenue and Alma Street in Amherstburg and the vehicle hit a pole. The man was taken to hospital and diagnosed with a serious injury.

Two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the case.
