The Town of Kingsville has hired Susan Hirota as its new Director of Legal and Clerk Services / Town Solicitor.
Hirota comes to Kingsville from the Town of Amherstburg, where she worked as Town Solicitor. On August 11th, Mayor Aldo DiCarlo said that Hirota had been temporarily assigned the CAO’s duties due to an ongoing investigation in the town.
She has spent 15 years as Senior Legal Counsel for the City of Windsor. During that time, she worked on a variety of files and issues including an Ontario Technical Working Group on Cannabis Business Opportunities.
“Susan has an excellent and established reputation in various aspects of municipal law,” said Kingsville’s Chief Administrative Officer, John Norton. “We’re looking forward to having Susan bring her expertise to this highly pivotal position within our Senior Management Team.”
As Director of Legal and Clerk Services, she will take responsibility for the provision of legal services and advice to Council and staff. She will also oversee the Clerk’s office and ensure that all duties assigned to the Clerk are completed and managed appropriately and professionally. The coming local municipal election in 2022 will fall under her area of responsibility.
“I’m very excited to begin working closely with Kingsville Council and Administration to further the Town’s objectives and Council’s priorities,” said Hirota. “Kingsville is a beautiful Town with a strong community spirit, and I’m thrilled to be part of this team.”
Her first day with the Town will be Monday, August 30th, 2021.
