Lowes in East Windsor has donated, $10,000 to help build beds for children in Windsor.
Store manager Lino Tesolin says the donation will go to the Windsor chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace, a non-profit organization that builds, assembles and delivers “top-notch” bunk beds to children and families in need.
The organization says they believe “that a bed is a basic need for the proper physical, emotional, and mental support that a child needs.”
“When it was brought to our attention that the need for beds went far beyond our own neighbourhoods, we stepped up and took initiative,” the organization said in a statement. “In Canada, too many boys and girls go without a bed – or even a pillow – to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health.”
The Windsor chapter, led by Brian Cyncora, will use the funds to help launch and grow the Sleep In Heavenly Peace program locally.
