Health Unit Announces Sixth Local Person Passes Away From COVID-19

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit is reporting the area’s sixth death from COVID-19 locally.
Officials say a woman in her seventies passed away due to COVID-19. The Health Unit says this is the sixth local death due to COVID-19 for Windsor-Essex. Out of respect for the family of the deceased and their privacy, the Health Unit says they will not be releasing any additional information at this time.
“On behalf our team at the WECHU I share my condolences with the family in this time of loss,” says Dr. Wajid Ahmed, the Medical Officer of Health.
Windsor-Essex has 227 cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, April 7th, and outbreaks at the following long term care facilities:
- Amica Riverside (Windsor)
- County Village Homes (Woodslee)
- Extendicare Southwood Lakes (Windsor)
- Heron Terrace (Windsor)
- Lifetimes on Riverside (Windsor)
- Riverside Place (Windsor)
- Village of St. Clair (Windsor)
